Let’s save our orcas! They need a sanctuary, not to be kept captive in Japan!

Marineland is planning to send Wikie, and Keijo to Japan, where a water park is undergoing construction. Moana died on October 17th 2023 and Inouk died on March 28th 2024.

The dolphinarium has responsibilities toward the orcas who were born in captivity in their pools. They cannot ignore the fact that they are in bad health, as testified by Dr Ingrid Visser, a biologist specialising in orcas, in two reports carried out by One Voice. The condition of Inouk, in particular, is concerning.

The State also has responsibilities toward the orcas who were born and have lived their whole lives in its country. Especially because in 2020, the Ministry of Ecology announced the end of orcas being kept in captivity between now and 2030, committing to take into account the solution of proposed sanctuaries.

In Japan, Wikie and Keijo will continue to be cruelly exploited until they die instead of finally knowing a proper life in a marine sanctuary.

We, the undersigned, support One Voice’s request to the President of the Republic, Emmanuel Macron, to intervene with Marineland and its parent company Parques Reunidos to fast track the French orcas being sent to Japan.

Marineland must facilitate the transfer of Wikie and Keijo to a sanctuary, a project which the park will come out of stronger.
