At the end of November, we invited the circus and their lawyer to look at another way out of this situation, by proposing to buy Maya from them, to save her in another way than by the legal one.

No response back from them except perhaps from legal threats. The circus does not obviously seek anything for the well-being of this elephant! We would have praised their generosity, but no, they seem to be ready to just let her die slowly.

We received in the wake of these proceedings, an "urgent summons" demanding the withdrawal of any communication defending Maya on our online media platforms, papers, etc., and for an apology from us!

At the same time, the Prefect of Lot-et-Garonne had received the advice from many international experts that we had recently put together, as well as the two letters from leading French institutions for veterinarians; and she has also heard public opinion expressed through our mobilizations at every moment (the gatherings, the signatures of the petition #JusticePourMaya, and more generally by your presence on social network sites that are on our side). The parallel action of these two components had probably played a major role in the Prefect's decision to order a new veterinary inspection.

We had written to her to ask her to take into account certain aspects of this inspection, and by the answer she gave us, it seems that we have been heard!

Given the legal situation, it is unfortunately impossible for us to say more. Even if our frustration and our impatience to all of this is strong, and that Maya is not yet free, we see this as a great step forward!

L’organisation The Animal Interfaith Alliance, basée en Grande Bretagne – www.animal-interfaith-alliance.com - voudrait dire merci à ONE VOICE pour tout ce que vous faites pour la pauvre Maya – et pour tous les animaux vulnérables, bien sûr - depuis longtemps.

A l’ âge de 54 ans, Maya, qui a toujours vécu dans des conditions pénibles et inadaptées pour un elephant, a bien le droit d’être retraitée et de vivre heureuse.

Madame le Préfet du Lot et Garonne a, à la fin, accepté d’ agir pour Maya et nous espérons, comme vous toutes et tous, que cette éléphante souffrante puisse sortir au plus vite du cirque.

Merci à ONE VOICE de faire tout ce qui lui est possible pour sauver Maya!!!
Que tout un chacun pour cette nouvelle année qui commence prenne ses responsabilités afin de ne plus cautionner l'enfermement, l'exploitation, la mort d'êtres sensibles!!! Par exemple pour la liberté de Maya et tous les animaux emprisonnés et exploités dans les cirques et autres prisons, que chacun prenne sa responsabilité, ouvre son coeur, élève sa conscience et ne paie plus jamais une entrée pour aller voir un spectacle de cirque avec animaux ou une visite dans un zoo... Malheureusement, c'est l'argent qui dirige le monde, alors si on enrichit ceux qui exploitent et emprisonnent, alors ils continueront d'exploiter et d'emprisonner...
Que l'année 2018 soit l'année de la libération de Maya et de tous les animaux des cirques!!!

Tout ce cirque (le mot est exact) depuis des années pour libérer de ce cirque infâme et cruel cette malheureuse bête qui ne verra jamais une fin de vie LIBRE et heureuse parce qu'une préféte prend son temps et doit longuement réfléchir pour prendre une quelconque décision.
Quant à ce directeur de cirque qui se permet de parler de procès quand on sait comme ces gens là traitent avec barbarie et cruauté toutes ces pauvres bêtes.
Quel monde de malades.
