Circuses flout the intelligence and sensitivity of elephants

We already know the capacity of their memory, their empathy and their unselfish nature. We know that they honour their dead, that they cooperate. Perhaps even the wisdom of knowing how to live together should be a source of inspiration for humans. Yet they continue to be exploited in the worst possible way.

Elephants are the slaves of circuses. Forced to raise a foot, to do a handstand, a turnaround ... then sent back to their dark trailers. How is it still possible, when we know, and it’s even been scientifically proven how intelligent they are?

A recent study has shown the amazing mathematical abilities of an Asian elephant. It has proved its ability to evaluate relative quantities, which was believed to be the case only from the human species until now. For this, several elephants have been confronted with images representing various quantities of fruits. Of the four individuals tested, only Authai passed the test, i.e. to determine, between two images, on which there was the greatest number of fruits, whatever the size. Further research is needed to generalize this already exciting result of this species.

Of course, it should not be necessary to prove the suffering caused by a practice to put an end to it. But concerning elephants, and as for many other species, it seems that whatever discoveries are made about them, nothing seems enough! Yet it is only to observe poor Lechmee watching Mina and Kamala surround her and give her special care and help her to feed herself. To understand what elephants are capable of, the complexity of their social links and their cognitive abilities ... Not even Lechmee's blindness, her disabled leg, her age and that of her friends, the violence that we have filmed, the disregard for the regulations, seem to succeed in convincing the authorities to put an end to their terrible exploitation...

But for Lechmee, Mina, Kamala and for all other circus prisoners we will continue to fight on relentlessly!

Vraiment toutes ces exploitations ignobles et immondes des animaux, toutes ces maltraitances et indifférences à leurs souffrances, à leurs misères, à leurs douleurs et leurs enfermement me font souffrir et pleurer. Tous les animaux dont ici, les éléphants sont merveilleux, fabuleux et emplis d'empathie et de respect envers les leurs et ont bien plus de qualités et d'intelligence que la plupart des humains. Je dénoncerais toujours et refuserais toujours que les animaux quels qu'ils soient, soient traités comme de la marchandise ou produits rentables pour certains soit disant humains, qui préfèrent fermer les yeux en s'obstinant d'exploiter ces animaux pour les ridiculiser, les humilier, les rabaisser en "simples objets de distraction, d'amusement et de profits". Je suis véritablement outrée et "écoeurée d'un gouvernement qui préfère ignorer autant de souffrances et d'esclavages animaux plutôt que de s'engager sérieusement à les protéger et à les défendre. Nous ne pouvons rester indifférents face à autant d'exploitations et d'esclavages de tous animaux confondus et dans tous domaines qui ne relèvent en rien de civisme, de grandeur, de morale et d'intelligence émotionnelle car les animaux ne nous appartiennent pas et ils ont autant que nous, le droit de vivre libres, d'êtres aimés, reconnus et respectés, en continuant sur cette voie nous ne pouvons que constater toujours plus à quel point grand nombre d'humains sont envahis de haine, de violence, d'agressivité et de cruauté et capables et prêts à tout et les animaux en font les frais au quotidien, alors qu'ils ne demandent qu'une chose ETRES LIBRES, VIVRE AUPRES DES LEURS ET ETRE CONSIDERES EN TANT QU ETRES VIVANTS autant que nous, DANS LE RESPECT LE PLUS TOTAL. Il est plus que choquant qu'en 2018, rien qu'en France les animaux soient encore si peu considérés et respectés alors qu'ils ont beaucoup à nous apprendre à tous points de vue, et mise à part LES ETRES VIVANTS TRES INTELLIGENTS qu'ils sont, ils représentent l'école de la vie pour les humains, c'est avec et auprès des animaux que nous apprenons tant de belles choses si simples et si profondes tellement ils sont dans l'authenticité, dans le naturel et la spontanéité un peu comme le sont les enfants, d'où la grande importance et urgence d'ouvrir enfin les yeux, le coeur pour accueillir et protéger à jamais nos frères LES ANIMAUX. Je vous suis très reconnaissante ONE VOICE pour faire le maximum et le nécessaire afin que tous les éléphants encore prisonniers des cirques tout comme tous autres animaux sauvages merveilleux soient enfin libérés de leurs enfers et calvaires.
