The all story of the fight
2011
As part of the U.N. International Year of Forests, One Voice organised a national programme to raise awareness of the consequences of deforestation, with events across the whole of France. We also partnered with the city of Strasbourg in planting an oak tree there to symbolise non-violence and demonstrate this European city's commitment to combat deforestation.
2010
To celebrate two years of the movement J'écoute ma conscience (I listen to my conscience), One Voice organised a Circle of Silence for Pacha Mama, the native American name for Mother Earth. It is Pacha Mama that unites the great family of life, she represents the underlying link between all beings and our planet. At this event One Voice added our support to the NGOs Tchendukua which defends the Kogi people of Colombia, APELE for the endangered European hamster, Inti Wara Yassi for wildlife in Bolivia, and Arutam for the Peruvian Amazon.
2007
One Voice launched operation Tree of Life for forests still standing, at a public forum involving the conservation organisations Kalaweit (Indonesia), Ikamaperu (Peru) and Friends of the Earth. Four hundred people met at Locronan in Brittany to mark the essential role that forests play in life, including local schoolchildren. In this hallowed centre of the Celtic culture, which revered nature, One Voice assembled key stakeholders in forest conservation and witnesses to the results of deforestation. Among them were Albertina Nanchijam Tuwits representing the Aguaruna people of the Peruvian Amazon. The culmination of this event was the planting of an oak tree in the local Névet forest, symbolising the resurgence of the forests.
